Do you know, Why the Dwarkadhish and Rukhmani temples are located at distance?
There is a story behind it, and this story happened here at Tupani- Charanganga Dham.
There was a condition that the couple (Shri Krishna & Rukmaniji) should carry the chariot from Pidara to Dwarka. The distance by road is about 45 kms, while the village Tupani falls exactly midway between Dwarka and Pindara.
To fulfill the condition, Lord Krishna and Rukmaniji started pulling the chariot and while boarding, Durvasa Rishi placed another condition: He will be in meditation and hence should not be disturbed during the journey.
Meanwhile, Rukmaniji felt thirsty and asked for water. However Lord Krishna reminded her the condition of Durvasa Rishi while boarding. But soon her thirst become unbearable, so she again requested for water while reaching Tupani village.
Lord Krishna, with his toe, created a water well and called upon the holy river Ganga’s water into this well. Thus, this place is known as Charan Ganga Dham.
As the chariot stopped to quench Rukmaniji’s thirst, Durvasa Muni suddenly came out of his meditation and summoned Shri Krishna asking why the chariot was stopped without his consent? He got angry and cursed the couple that then on wards they would have to be separated.
That’s why even today the distance between Jagad Mandir Dwarka and Rukhmani Temple is about 3 KM.
This water well is even today exists as a silent witness to this story.
